Luana is the co-founder of Kalshi. While she focuses on all things Kalshi, she spends much of her time driving product direction and ensuring smooth operations within the business.

Before starting Kalshi, Luana spent time at Bridgewater, Citadel, and Five Rings Capital.

Education

Luana grew up in Brazil, where she attended the Bolshoi Theatre. While in Brazil, Luana won the Gold medal in the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad and a Bronze Medal at the Santa Catarina Mathematics Olympiad. 

Luana then went on to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she got her Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Mathematics and a Master’s of Engineering degree.

At MIT Luana was also part of the Computational Cognitive Science Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Max Kleiman-Weiner and Prof. Josh Tenenbaum, and was a researcher at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Laboratory.

Hobbies & Fun Facts

Luana was a professional ballet dancer. She was part of the Salzburger Landestheater in Austria and was invited to dance in the Swan Lake Season.

In her (rare) spare time, you can find Luana painting, drinking matcha, doing pilates, playing with her dog Lola, listening to Taylor Swift, or watching a history documentary.
