Anitocabtagene autoleucel (anito-cel) is a personalized, one-time cell therapy made from a patient's own immune cells, reprogrammed in a laboratory to hunt and destroy cancer cells — think of it as taking a soldier from the patient's own army, giving it a custom-made targeting scope, and sending it back in. It is classified as a CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T-cell) therapy developed by Arcellx and commercialized in partnership with Gilead Sciences, designed to treat a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. In the trials studied here, it showed very high response rates, with nearly all treated patients responding to the therapy.
