The Ecuador LigaPro champion is determined through a two-stage competition format. All 16 teams first compete in a full double round-robin regular season, where each team plays every other team twice (home and away).
After the regular season, the top six teams advance to the First Hexagonal, carrying over the points earned during the regular season. These six teams then play each other twice again.
The team with the most total points at the conclusion of the First Hexagonal is declared the Ecuador LigaPro champion.
