Clarification 8/24/23 8:15AM ET: for the purpose of counting counties, boroughs (and census areas within the unorganized borough) in Alaska are equivalent to counties. Thus, the total sum is the sum of boroughs and census areas within the unorganized borough. Educational Attendance areas do not count.
