Where this comes from: The league's draft board as its statistics provider publishes it, pick by pick. Pick numbers are the league's own — a forfeited pick leaves a gap rather than being renumbered.

How the draft order works

The NBA draft has two rounds of thirty picks. The first four picks are decided by the draft lottery among the fourteen clubs that missed the postseason; the rest of the lottery order follows the reverse of the regular-season standings, and the clubs that made the postseason pick after them, worst record first.

Picks are traded constantly, so the club making a selection is often not the club whose record earned it. Where the feed publishes how a pick changed hands it is shown beside the club; where it does not, the board names the club that holds the pick and nothing more.

59 picks rather than 60: the league took away a selection in round 2 (No. 24), so that round's numbering skips and the overall numbers do not.

The 2026 draft is over, so every pick here is final. The order for the next draft is set by the lottery after this coming season.

FAQ

Questions

Who has the first pick in the 2026 NBA draft?
Washington Wizards, who selected AJ Dybantsa from Brigham Young.
How many picks are in the 2026 NBA draft?
59 picks rather than 60: the league took away a selection in round 2 (No. 24), so that round's numbering skips and the overall numbers do not.
How is the NBA draft order decided?
The fourteen clubs that missed the postseason enter the lottery, which decides the first four picks. Picks 5 to 14 follow the reverse standings of the lottery clubs, and picks 15 to 30 go to the postseason clubs in reverse order of record. The second round follows reverse standings for all thirty clubs.
Why does a club pick at a slot its record did not earn?
Because picks are traded — often years in advance, and often with protections attached. The club listed at a slot is the one holding the pick on draft night.
