How often do the Devils and Stars play each other?
The New Jersey Devils and the Dallas Stars meet twice a regular season, once in each arena. Every club plays each club in the other conference twice, home and away, so this is the least often the league schedules any pairing — and outside the Stanley Cup Final it is the only way the Devils and the Stars meet.
Are the Devils and Stars in the same division?
No, and not the same conference either. The New Jersey Devils are an Eastern Conference club in the Metropolitan Division; the Dallas Stars are a Western Conference club in the Central. That makes every meeting between them an inter-conference game.
What is at stake when the Devils play the Stars?
A win is worth two points in the standings, and a loss in overtime or a shootout still earns one — so a game that goes past regulation puts three points on the table rather than two.
