A trade is filed once per player moved, by the club that received him; the trade tracker groups a day’s moves between the same clubs into one deal. Draft picks in a trade appear only in its terms.
Most of the log is clubs moving their own players between the NHL, the minors, junior and Europe; those moves name the filing club and where he went.
Re-signings and extensions are separate: a re-signing keeps a club’s own free agent, an extension adds years to a contract still running.
